Buck Creek Lacrosse mission statement

Through responsive and effective coaching, Buck Creek Lacrosse will promote the participation of all children, of every athletic ability and experience level in the exciting game of lacrosse. We emphasize fun, good sportsmanship, healthy competition, and love and respect for the game of lacrosse.
 

PHILOSOPHY
The goal of the Buck Creek Lacrosse is to provide a constructive and positive experience for young athletes, while advancing and supporting the sport in the towns of Alabaster, Helena, and surrounding areas. The program puts a priority on the interests and needs of the participants while providing an enjoyable environment in which to learn lacrosse.

CORE VALUES
The following core values will guide Buck Creek Lacrosse both now and in the future. Buck Creek Lacrosse believes its programs have the potential to develop more than lacrosse skills - we develop character values that will benefit players both now and later in life, not only in sprots but in other endeavors as well. It’s about much more than lacrosse.

SPORTSMANSHIP
Foremost of all values is to learn a sense of fair play. We will be humble in victory and we will be gracious in defeat. We will not have failures; we will have opportunities for improvement. We will promote friendship with teammates and opponents alike, and we will respect officials, coaches and volunteers.

RESPECT FOR THE INDIVIDUAL
Our athletes will treat all others as they would want to be treated and our coaches and volunteers will treat players as we would want our own children to be treated.   

INTEGRITY
We seek to foster honesty and fair play at all times in accordance with the rules of the game.

EFFORT
Each member of Buck Creek Lacrosse, whether player, parent, or volunteer staff, should always give their best effort.  We recognize that young athletes develop at different rates and stages. Not everyone will have the same ability in any given age group, but everyone will be encouraged to perform to the best of his or her ability and encouraged to always look to improve.

ENJOYMENT
We want the lacrosse experience to be fun, satisfying and rewarding for all participants. We want each child, at the end of every season, to look forward to playing lacrosse again the following season.

TEAMWORK
We value the strength of learning to work together. Teamwork is reinforced and rewarded by success in the lacrosse experience.  We will encourage team success over individual exploits and we will promote trust in teammates over selfish play.

LOYALTY
We are loyal to teammates and to other parents because we understand that teamwork and overall success cannot be achieved without mutual appreciation and a desire for all players to do well and enjoy the game.
